How to play

  1. The first player gets a word

They have sixty seconds to draw it with a finger, straight on the screen.

  2. Pass it on

The next player sees the picture and nothing else, and writes down what they think it is.

  3. And again

The third player sees only that text and draws from it. Nobody sees the original word again.

  4. The chain closes

Drawing and guessing alternate for up to twelve steps. In a big group two chains run at once so nobody waits.

  5. The reveal

You see the path from the first word to the last drawing and can send it on as a single image.

Who it suits

  • For three to twelve people where nobody minds scribbling.
  • When you want something from the evening to drop into the group chat.
  • For a longer round you can play sitting down.

Questions people ask

Do I need to be able to draw?

Not at all. The worse the drawings, the better the chain reads at the end.

Are the drawings saved to Photos?

No. The chain stays in the app. You share it through the system sheet and the app never touches your library.

How many players fit?

Three to twelve. A longer chain would drag, so twelve steps is the cap.

Is the game in Plus?

Yes, Drawing Chain is part of the Plus subscription.
