Impostor

The game Blafuj started with. Civilians know the secret word, the impostor only gets a hint and has to bluff. Everyone says one word out loud and the group hunts for the liar.

How to play

  1. Add names and pick a pack

The app deals the roles: one impostor by default, two from seven players, three from thirteen. You can change the number by hand.

  2. Hold and peek

The phone goes round. Each player holds a finger down and secretly sees the word. The impostor reads “You’re the impostor” and one hint instead.

  3. One word each

In random order everyone says a single word linked to the secret one. A civilian always starts. The discussion timer is optional, 30 to 120 seconds.

  4. Point on three

The group argues it out loud and points. The app records who you eliminated and offers a tiebreaker when the vote is split.

  5. The guess and the result

An eliminated impostor gets one guess at the secret word. Guess it and they still take the round. Miss it and the civilians win.

Questions people ask

How many players do I need?

Three or more, up to twenty. Five to eight is the sweet spot.

Do we vote inside the app?

No. You decide out loud and the app only records who was eliminated. If the vote ties, it offers a tiebreaker round between the tied players.

Do I need Plus?

No. The basic mode and four packs of a hundred words each are free. Plus unlocks the rest of the packs, the Double mode and the hint settings.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The words ship with the app, nothing is downloaded and nothing is sent. No sign-up, no account.
